Dewiek Elder Nation (67)
Code DEN
Description Whereas humanity evolved from primates, the Dewiek race evolved from a
wolf-like canine species whose origins have long since been lost.

When fully grown they stand approximately 2.5m tall, these muscular bipeds
have keen senses, large teeth and are covered in a thick layer of fur.

They tend to be carnivorous in nature, and enjoy raw and sometimes even live
food. Dewiek are born with no claws on their front paws and this allows for
a high agility factor. As the Dewiek grow older the claws grow (a sign of
maturity) until they are so large that the only line of work open to them is
mining or the military. This in turn has created a high military presence in
the Dewiek nation. It also contributes to the advanced technology level as
the scientists tend to be younger Dewiek who aren't stifled by old
preconceptions and are open to new ideas and theories.

The Dewiek civil population tend to overlook their elders in peacetime and
this leads to rather a high level of resentment from the older generations.
The only path left for glory and self achievement for them is in battle and
this is why the Dewiek seem to be constantly at war in at least one corner
of the galaxy. Any loss of dexterity in the elder Dewieks now fearsome front
paws is overcome by the Dewiek empathic abilities, which again is heightened
as a Dewiek matures.

Much of the mechanisation of a modern Dewiek force is empathetically
controlled. Complex auditory and visual communication between individuals
and small groups is possible using the Dewiek's empathic abilities, which
makes it nearly impossible to ambush a Dewiek force. There is also an
emotional connection which is held between Dewiek which seems to be
unbreakable and unlimited in range. This is often refereed to as the 'Pack
Mind' and Dewiek often sense the passing of pack members using this ability.

The Dewiek race are constantly rediscovering their lost technology and are
considered by many to be a technologically advanced race. This is
demonstrated in their ability to produce teleporters and in rediscovering
the skills required to build their old flagships, the Direwolf. This warship
contains advanced features and is feared by their enemies. Due to the war
like nature of the Dewiek, the abilities of their ships are regularly
demonstrated, proving to enemies and allies alike that they are as
formidable in space as they are on the ground.

Dewiek are pack creatures and govern their colonies accordingly. They have a
fair tolerance to different climates and due to their thick fur they can
survive in the coldest of environments. Dewiek packs have been seen to
colonise areas from the icey polar caps to the arrid deserts of some world.
