The proximity torpedo is self propelled and is capable of tracking its target. It explodes when within its considerable range although it generally only effective against weak hulls. It is not effected by scintillators. While torpedoes can be launched from a stationary position against another stationary position, they are designed to launch from a moving position. As such they suffer greatly (-12 ACC) if launched against targets that have a 1g-acceleration advantage. As tractor beam cannot reduce 'jitter' in a target, even one that is pinned through the use of tractor beams still counts its combat speed for the purposes of torpedoes.
