New Players.
First of all fill in the start-up form. This will take you though the steps to create a nexus account and a ship, and even allow you to submit some orders for the next day.
Next familiarise yourself with the game either by looking at the library section on your nexus account, Beginner's Guide online or by downloading the rules. Take some time to read the general forum to have an idea of what is happening at the moment and introduce yourself (IC and OOC if you want).
When you register as a new player, looking for affiliation is automatically enabled so you will see the recruitment forum and you can find an affiliation to suit you. You don't have to hurry to do this, have a chat with people and see who you like the sound of. If for some reason you don't like the affiliation you join you can leave and join another so its not the end of the world. If you don't like the look of any of the affiliations you can stay as an independent player (IND) but this is very hard and not recommended as you will not get the support and advice that an affiliation has to offer. IND are banned from many systems by other players and other positions will shot IND players on sight, so you have been warned.
The order editor for your positions is now fully integrated into the nexus site along with game data, and ship turns. You also have the option to use the separate online order editor and off-line version of the order editor, details of these can be found on the downloads page.
If you have a problem with your start up account not working properly, not receiving turns, or have any other problems then either send Mica a PM on the forum or write to kjc@kjcgames.co.uk with the statement Phoenix Startup Player Problem in the subject line.
Existing Players.
If you are already playing phoenix but do not yet have an account on the nexus site press register at the bottom of the left column. Register using the recruitment keyword phoenix_player. Once you have created a nexus account send Mica a PM on the forum or a SA in game asking him to link your game account to your nexus account and information will be updated to your nexus account the next day.
Returning Players.
If you used to play BSE many years ago and want to have a go at this new version then first of all welcome back. If you have no assets in the game then register as a new player and go from there. If you think that you have assets remaining in the game or if there is a particular position that you want to resume then the best thing is to contact Mica to discuss it with him.
Duplicate IP.
If you have already created an account and then try to make a second one on the same IP address you will be prompted to indicate the reason for a second account. In the past people have created false accounts to gain access to more than one affiliation and so moderation of second accounts was introduced. There are many situations where a second account is genuine, such as relations or students living together, so please just be truthful in the start up form.
