The Corporate Periphery Times

Volume II, Issue 3

Stardate: 215.10.1 (Monday, March 2, 2015)

The GTT is a fascinating place to work and has a lot of interesting stories to tell. As the wife of the CEO, I’ve heard many of these stories told at the dinner table. It has always seemed a shame that few others heard these tales. This magazine is meant to correct that situation. Our intent is to create greater understanding about the GTT by telling the stories that few ever actually hear. We will tell those stories accurately and factually. I hope that you enjoy them all.

Mary Stryker – Editor and Publisher

And now for all the news that’s fit to print:

Sojourn at Shirazi Estates

by Gretchen Corbett on special assignment for the CPT

The GTT visitors continued their stay at Shirazi Estates on Sol this past month. The Vizer was somewhat distracted by some business in the Coreward Periphery, but the GTT bigwigs had no major complaints about their hosts hospitality.

The Vizer did find the time to pay the dowry for his niece, Maryam Shirazi’s hand which consisted of 50,000 stellars cash and five brand spanking new Demon class warships. The warships were delivered the GTT’s Starbase in Darkfold and are now approaching Starbase Angara for final fitting out. The warships should make a fine complement to the two Colossus class warships which the GTT acquired in the waning days of the CNF, prior to their re-emergence as the Caliphate. All seven CAL warships are scheduled to be placed under the command of Benjamin Stryker.

The romance of the two lovebirds continues to blossom under the watchful eye of Ms Shirazi’s aunt.

The DTR Ceasefire: Abyss

Stardate: 215. 9.3

The DTR ground forces assaulted three GTT outposts in Abyss. First up, GTT Outpost KG-53 (6140) was attacked by DTR Take 1 (68691) and the DTR GP was repulsed. Next up, GTT Outpost New Pitstop (7973) was assaulted by DTR Ground Party Take 2 (65406). The attackers were successfully fought off. Finally, GTT Outpost WH-49 fell to DTR Ger’off my land (9245).

The following day, fighting continued at Outposts KG-53 and New Pitstop with the DTR attacking yet a fourth GTT outpost, Abyss J (4667) using GP Take 3 (75054). The Outpost Abyss J remained in GTT hands with the DTR Ground Party, Take 3, being blown up.

Fighting continued on the third day and the GTT volunteered to surrender the disputed outposts to the DTR.

The amusing thing here is that our reporters were informed by insiders at GTT Black Towers that all four the outposts in Abyss could have been had by the DTR by their merely asking for them. It seems that they were scheduled to be returned to the DTR under the continuing Peace talks anyway. So the High Command is mystified as to why the DTR chose to assault the outposts rather than simply ask for the return of them.

Perhaps the Republican High Command decided they needed the practice. They don’t seem to be very good at this sort of thing.

The DTR Ceasefire: Adamski

Contrast the actions of the DTR in Abyss with the actions of the GTT in Adamski. Earlier in the month, the GTT noticed an illegal DTR outpost in the system of Adamski. The GTT chose to be nice and forwarded the information onto the Viceroy. He requested the DTR to voluntarily surrender the outpost to the IMP Bloc. They either stripped or trashed everything within outpost and turned over an empty shell.

The DTR Ceasefire: Kastor

As part of the continuing Peace process between the DTR and the EMP Bloc, the system of Kastor was returned to the Caliphate this month. The CAL wasted no time re-instituting their laws there. Five MRC vessels were summarily dealt with.

MRC: Titan

The MRC ship, Confederacy Action, which gave the GTT such a merry chase last month, has been spotted again. It was spotted this month in Titan at the G15 quad. Efforts to intercept her once again failed. The GTT has posted this transgressor.

MRC: Zewt

Five GTT cruisers ran headlong into a force of 12 MRC Capital ships in the system of Zewt. Although, no ships were destroyed on either side, the small squadron of GTT cruisers seems to have caught the worst of the encounter.

PIR: Zewt

In the closing days of the month, a GTT Anti-Piracy patrol engaged 2 PIR vessels (one was loaded with and fired AM missiles) and one MRC. All three were destroyed.

Daggern: HEX

A GTT Anti-Piracy patrol in Daggern was pulled into a confrontation with the HEX in the Coreward system of Daggern when a CAL squadron moved into proximity of four HEX freighters. The GTT had CAL on their Support lists and were pulled into the party. No ships of either side have been reported as destroyed and all seem to have retreated from actual combat. CAL has since been downgraded to Defend only in Coreward.

Blast from the Past

This is a recurring column for the CPT. The GTT has a long standing project to preserve our history. Although a few stories have been posted in the library, our history project consists mostly of biographies filed by previous members. They range from rather simple to some that are fairly elaborate. We thought it might be fun to start publishing information about players and events from the GTT’s past. We hope you enjoy the articles.

This month we focus on former Trade and Recruitment Director, Bob Bost who was with the GTT quite a while. He is chiefly remembered within the corporation for his penchant for dropping GTT outposts on top of other affiliation’s outposts. Unfortunately, that particularly knack of his continues to rear its ugly head up into this very day. Not too very long ago, we had to purchase three outposts in Ross from the SMS, when they realized that 3 GTT outposts were sitting on top of theirs.

Blast from the Past: Bob Bost

Bob Bost was born at the DaBeers base in 177 to parents who were deeply committed to the GCS cause, including the use of weapons of mass destruction. In disgust at these actions, he changed his name to the current name at age 18 and refuses to reveal the original family name. He has made mention of a sister while in his cups but nothing more.

He was accepted into the Galactic School of Business graduate program at age 19, having completed his undergraduate work in two years. Upon graduating, he accepted a position in the base management team and began quickly rising within the GCS organization. Rising to Deputy Governor by age 26, he realized he could rise no further in the GCS because of his views on WoMD.

When the ban on travel between the Inner Empire and the Peripheries was lifted, he took everything he had or could borrow and bought a small tramp freighter. He set out to see if his schooling matched reality among the space lanes and discovered there was quite a difference. But learning quickly, he had added several ships to his tiny fleet while wandering the stars.

In early 209 he was approached by the GTT which had taken over GCS assets and had purged it of the more radical elements. He was offered the Governorship of DaBeers due to his intimate knowledge of this system. His work within the corporation brought greater responsibility as he was given command of fleets for both trade and exploration. A number of military task forces were added to his command in time for him to participate in the war against the AFT.

As about the same time, he was given command of the House Liquan base the GTT purchased in Adamski. Renaming the base DaWines, he set in to develop the system outposts and grow the base into a sizable production center for the corporation.

Barely five months after joining the GTT, the Board created a new seat for Recruitment and Bob was offered this seat. Taking the position seriously, he has been scouring the academies looking for captains to command GTT ships.

Trade News

GTT Starbase Angara will no longer be buying Rare Earth Elements (22). We have way too much of the filthy stuff now and will not be resuming purchases any time in the near future. The Governor there will also be eliminating buy requests for the market on trade goods that are no longer being sold there. Goods that are regularly being sold at Angara will not be affected by the coming changes. Any questions should be directed to James Stryker.

GTT Starbase HQ in Capellan has temporarily closed its market to sell off a glut of goods there. It is expected to re-open in the not too distant future. Ike Krieger

The Corporate Periphery Times (33582) is still available from GTT Starbase HQ (467) in Capellan for 1 stellar per MU. This is considered a must have item in Wimble culture and no Wimble should be without one. You may sell your copy of CPT at any of these fine Wimble ports:
