Volume II, Issue 4

Stardate: 215.15.1 (Monday, April 6, 2015)

The GTT is a fascinating place to work and has a lot of interesting stories to tell. As the wife of the CEO, I’ve heard many of these stories told at the dinner table. It has always seemed a shame that few others heard these tales. This magazine is meant to correct that situation. Our intent is to create greater understanding about the GTT by telling the stories that few ever actually hear. We will tell those stories accurately and factually. I hope that you enjoy them all.

Mary Stryker – Editor and Publisher

And now for all the news that’s fit to print:

Zewt Battle

Stardate: 215. 10.3

A battle erupted between the EMP Bloc and Alien Alliance at the G5 quad of the system of Zewt in the Coreward Periphery. The fight was triggered by CAL warships at that location and was heavily supported by IMP/GTT warships at the same location. The Aliens were heavily outnumbered and caught the worst of it.

CAL - 225 total / 16 destroyed / 135 damaged
GTT - 355 total / 0 destroyed / 124 damaged
IMP - 10 total / 0 destroyed / 6 damaged

DEN - 140 total / 34 destroyed / 97 damaged
HEX - 148 total / 1 destroyed / 41 damaged

Empire: 590 total / 16 destroyed / 265 damaged
Aliens: 288 total / 35 destroyed / 138 damaged

Hull Losses were calculated as follows:

CAL - 2860 HH, 200NH

DEN - 6300 HH
HEX - 200HH

The battle was a clear-cut win for the EMP Bloc, but created some controversy resulting in the resignation of the CEO of the GTT.

Over the next few days, approximately 20 FLZ ships and around 20 HEX ships were destroyed in other locations within that same system.

Retirement: The Stryker Era Ends

Reprinted from public channels:

James Stryker resigns from as CEO

Chief Executive Officer James Stryker stunned the Corporation today by submitting his resignation. His statement of intent was terse and to the point. This statement was sent by subspace transmission form the CEO’s current location at Shirazi Estates on Earth where he is currently overseeing the arrangements for his son’s impending marriage.

“A few days ago a series of battles took place in the system of Zewt in the Coreward Periphery. The battle was not totally unexpected, but the outcome was. By previous agreements with the Nation, GTT warships were not to have DEN on its Enemies list and not to have CAL on its Support lists. The CAL was to be only on the GTT’s Defend lists. The targeting lists of the participating GTT warships in that battle were defective and had CAL on the Support lists and not on Defend only as our previous agreements called for. As a result, the GTT destroyed more DEN warships than would have occurred had the target lists been correct.”

“Contrary to recent reports, DEN was not on our Enemies list, but that is irrelevant as CAL should not have been on our Support lists. The targeting lists in Coreward were defective.”

“I am the undisputed leader of the GTT and the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that orders are carried out is mine and mine alone. I take full and complete responsibility for what transpired in the Zewt system. I decline to avoid my responsibilities by searching out scapegoats. I take ownership of the actions that occurred during that battle.”

“Some tentative steps to repair the damaged relationship between the Nation and the GTT have indicated that my reputation for the Honorable conduct of business has been damaged beyond repair. Accordingly, I submit to the Board of Directors my resignation as CEO and is to be effective immediately.”

As my last official act as CEO of the Galactic Trade and Transport Corporation, I am summoning the Board to an emergency meeting to choose my successor.”

“That is all.”

“Sincerely,”

”James Stryker – Formerly CEO of the GTT”

Krieger Era Begins

Board of Directors announced that General Ike Krieger was voted in as the GTT's newest CEO. The report was greeted with enthusiasm by the rank and file both. All wished him well. The GTT’s newest CEO had this to say:

“We will continue to support our Caliphates allies in their Coreward efforts and elsewhere if called upon. All current trade arrangements remain in place. There will be a bit of a consolidation of assets as we absorb the loss of James Stryker and merge his portfolio into the remaining members of the GTT. The Board will be contacting by PM those who we think might like first shot at some of our assets that no longer fit the business model. After that, the Board will put up for sale whatever we can't make use of, which will include a large inventory of obsolete freight designs. “

Side Bar: Stryker’s Story

James Stryker joined the GTT in the year 208 and was recruited by Xavier Fox. It was a fortuitous time to sign on with the GTT and he was quickly promoted to Fleet Manger. The Corporation was about to embark upon a massive expansion and numerous projects were in the planning stage. Then CEO, Roland, assigned several ships to Stryker and he was immediately assigned the task of building two platforms in different systems. One was in Aladdin and the other in Audrey. He completed those tasks in short order.

When he heard that the GTT planned an expansion into the Dewiek Home Periphery (DHP), James applied for and received permission to construct and then manage the starbase: Far Point on Fecunditatus in the Tolfallen System of the DHP (Far Point is no longer on the GTT). In rapid succession he was given command of Starbase Finkley Downs in Yank and Starbase London in Storm. Stryker oversaw the transformation of Starbase London and its ancillary outposts into a shipbuilding concern for the GTT.

Stryker was the GTT’s point man in Storm when the arrival of Warlord Skaven upended the status quo there. The GTT was treaty-bound to support then Warlord Ferox and Warlord Skaven’s arrival set off a short, but sharp civil war in Storm from which Skaven emerged victorious. Stryker managed to maintain the Board’s decision to remain neutral in the conflict and in the process created a good working relationship with the new Warlord of the Krell. The mostly harmonious relationship remained in effect until the unexpectedly, sudden resignation of Warlord Skaven from his leadership position within the KRL.

During this period, CEO Roland was ejected from the Corporation for his dealings with the Pirate Amedeus Wolfgang who was commonly called Wolfpack. He helped elect Xavier Fox as the new CEO who would be an important mentor to Stryker. James was quickly promoted to the Board in the reshuffle that ensued after the fall of Roland. He also acquired Starbase Venus Prime and added it to his growing portfolio of positions. Stryker oversaw the transformation of Venus Prime during the tumultuous times when the new trading rules which were instituted throughout the peripheries. His massive construction projects there turned Venus Prime into the economic power house that it is today.

Stryker was a strong supporter of the war against the AFT and committed whatever resources he had to help gain the victory over them. His forces participated in the Battles of St Dimas and Storm. In the latter battle, the entire AFT force was wiped out with the exception of one lone, surviving ship.

With the retirement of Xavier Fox in late 209, Mr Stryker was elevated to the position of CEO of the GTT and acquired the Governorship of Starbase Angara. His promotion brought him into personal contact with then Imperial Viceroy, Ike Krieger. It was the start of a lasting friendship that endures to this day.

In his first message to Stryker, the Viceroy told of the evidence that the IMP’s had of the RIP’s collusion with pirates and sought the GTT’s help in evicting the RIP from Imperial Space. Stryker’s first duty as CEO would be to lead the GTT to war against the RIP.

He led the GTT forces to victory over the RIP in early 210. Forces under the direct command of CEO Stryker secured the area in St Dismas during the IMP action there, participated in the orbital bombardment of the RIP Starbase, Freedom City in Madonna and destroyed a platform located in a different quad in Madonna.

Stryker’s forces fought several pitched battles with the RIP in the system of Storm. Two entire fleet detachments of RIP warships were completely destroyed. He seized one outpost from the RIP on the moon of Force 12 and two more on the planet of Monsoon. Through his leadership, the RIP Starbase Thanatos capitulated and came under the control of the GTT. At the conclusion of the Police Action, the RIP transferred all remaining RIP assets in the system of Storm to the GTT.

Immediately after the RIP Action, Stryker answered the call of the GTT's allies, the FET, for assistance against the COH. The corporation was immediately sent into action in the system of Tycoon. The GTT aided the IMPerial Services and the FET in reducing the former COH Starbase Ves Tuuman to rubble and capturing what remained of it.

The year of 210 was a very busy time for Mr. Stryker. Forces under his direct command fought the RCF in both the newly discovered periphery of Halo and the restricted system of Kallisan. During the Halo Operation, his small squadron of fast jumpers held off a combined force of RCF, PIR and COH for three days during a severe confrontation in the system of Hittite. In Kallisan, Stryker fought off several unsuccessful attempts by the RCF to establish a presence in that system.

Towards the end of 210, newly returned Krell Warlord, Skaven, resumed his leadership of the Krell. Skaven was accused of Piracy by the IMPerial Services and war quickly broke out. The Warlord was killed in the fighting and peace was restored. To facilitate the restoration of peace in the system of Storm, Stryker agreed to turn over GTT assets on the planet Inversion (included his beloved Starbase London) to the Krell to assist them in the restoration of their civilization.

211 was for the most part a fairly quiet year with CEO Stryker concentrating mostly upon business matters. With the retirement of Fox and two other Board members with a third Director going over to the CNF, the Corporation was collapsing due to a dearth of Leadership. It required his constant attention to keep the GTT from imploding. Stryker’s first lucky break during the period was to recruit former Imperial Viceroy, General Ike Krieger into the GTT. Krieger initially brought with him an enthusiastic attitude and eventually several of his relatives.

Stryker and Krieger formed an important partnership that would transform the GTT. They actively debated the future of the GTT and make some major decisions. They decided that they wanted partners rather than employees and wanted the GTT to be friendlier to newcomers. They also decided against throwing so many ships and bases at newcomers and allow them time to absorb the necessary skills needed to manage their tasks. Together they set about making their decisions a reality. Many forums had their access downgraded to allow newbies to have more to read and participate in. A new Mission’s Forum was created so that jobs could easily be created and posted for them to bid upon. With some hard effort, the GTT began to grow again and the Corporation began to retain a higher percentage of the new recruits.

Stryker constantly pushed for the development of newer and better classes of warships to replace the aging warships of yesteryear. His efforts were eminently successful as the DTR was soon to discover. Private messages between the CEO and the DTR after the battle in Straddle indicated that they were totally surprised by the superb quality of the GTT’s frontline warships.

He led the GTT through the harrowing times of the DTR War and brought the Corporation through it all in fairly decent shape - two naval disasters notwithstanding.

James Stryker has been married for many years to the truly lovely, Mary Stryker. She often assisted James in administering the positions that he had been appointed to command. Mary represented the Stryker family at the First Year Anniversary Celebrations of the founding of the Falconian Republic at Falencia in the year of 209. She is currently Editor and Publisher of the CPT. Mr and Mrs Stryker have a son named, Benjamin, who has followed in his father’s footsteps into a career with the GTT. Benjamin is currently assigned as commander of the GTT ground party “Stryker’s Own.” Col Benjamin Stryker commanded the assault upon the Force 12 outpost during the RIP war and seized one of the outposts on Monsoon. James Stryker beamed with pride over his son's accomplishment during the RIP Police Action. The younger Stryker has also recently become engaged to a member of the Shirazi family.

The GTT, at the time of James Stryker’s retirement, is the largest and most powerful of the chartered Corporations. He shares much of the credit for that.

Blast from the Past

This is a recurring column for the CPT. The GTT has a long standing project to preserve our history. Although a few stories have been posted in the library, our history project consists mostly of biographies filed by previous members. They range from rather simple to some that are fairly elaborate. We thought it might be fun to start publishing information about players and events from the GTT’s past. We hope you enjoy the articles.

This month we focus on Bob Bost. He was an exceptional fun person who had the unfortunate tendency to land GTT outposts on top of the outposts of other affiliations. A proclivity that has caused no end of problems for the Corporation to this very day.

Blast from the Past: Bob Bost

Bob Bost was born at the DaBeers base in 177 to parents who were deeply committed to the GCS cause, including the use of weapons of mass destruction. In disgust at these actions, he changed his name to the current name at age 18 and refuses to reveal the original family name. He has made mention of a sister while in his cups but nothing more.

He was accepted into the Galactic School of Business graduate program at age 19, having completed his undergraduate work in two years. Upon graduating, he accepted a position in the base management team and began quickly rising within the GCS organization. Rising to Deputy Governor by age 26, he realized he could rise no further in the GCS because of his views on WoMD.

When the ban on travel between the Inner Empire and the Peripheries was lifted, he took everything he had or could borrow and bought a small tramp freighter. He set out to see if his schooling matched reality among the space lanes and discovered there was quite a difference. But learning quickly, he had added several ships to his tiny fleet while wandering the stars.

In early 209 he was approached by the GTT which had taken over GCS assets and had purged it of the more radical elements. He was offered the Governorship of DaBeers due to his intimate knowledge of this system. His work within the corporation brought greater responsibility as he was given command of fleets for both trade and exploration. A number of military task forces were added to his command in time for him to participate in the war against the AFT.

As about the same time, he was given command of the House Liquan base the GTT purchased in Adamski. Renaming the base DaWines, he set in to develop the system outposts and grow the base into a sizable production center for the corporation.

Barely five months after joining the GTT, the Board created a new seat for Recruitment and Bob was offered this seat. Taking the position seriously, he has been scouring the academies looking for captains to command GTT ships.
