***** Inter Galactic News - 500th Edition! *****

*** Message From The Editor ***

Deep in the depths of Kang’s obscure file system, there is a notification that this is the 500th edition of the SSS.

This number is almost certainly inaccurate as there have been times when the file has been saved on top of older editions by accident. But lacking more precise details, join Kang as we celebrate 500 editions of the Peripheries most inherently unreliable news agency, as we toast with burning Wimbles in the traditional Flagritz way.

Let the screaming commence!

*** Freighters Intercepted ***

Two puny Brotherhood freighters are understood to have been intercepted and destroyed by Hexamon forces in the Zewt system.

The recent attacks by the HEX against freighter traffic have resulted in the EMP issuing the following statement:

"The Hexamon are threatening all and sundry and openly attacking said, all and sundry in the systems of Astra, Fenteb and Sharantian.

It should be noted that the Astrab, Fenta and Sharantian systems were never in the hands of the Hexamon, and were never theirs to dictate the terms of who can, and cannot enter these systems. They come under the control of the Civilian authorities within. Just because the bases have been lost, does not mean they control the rights to all of these systems total space.

It is understood that the Civilian authorities have already posted a great many Hexamon ships and more will follow due to these acts of open piracy against traders.

The recent traders losing their ships belonged to FRE according to Hexamon transmissions. Although we cannot verify the location of the ships destruction, we can verify they were not in the orbit of the IMP facility, meaning the acts of piracy have already taken place in open space.”

The Hexamon for their part are understood to be entirely unconcerned about a few more dead human meatsacks.

*** Puny Earthlings Fail To Reproduce ***

Gossip magazines throughout the puny human Empire have this week been spreading scurrilous rumours about the lack of an heir for Meat-emperor Lysander and his Bride of several years now.

Could the lineage be doomed to end with this childless couple?

Is there truth to the rumour that the Empress only has eyes for aliens, and this is at the root of the Empires hatred for non-humans?

Kang cares not.

*** Elsewhere In Zewt ***

The FlZ are reporting that a large number of Brotherhood warships were seen holding the quad to the CAL Zewt base this week, but it seems when the ships of the ESP came round they remembered they were needed else where. This allowed the ESP once more to romp around yet another Caliphate claimed system unchallenged. The plus side was they (the ESP ships) got to send 7 troop transporters full of troops to serve this True One they go on about.

Bringing the BHD death count this week to 9 freighters, and an unknown number of dead meatsacks.

Meatsacks for the meatsack God!

*** FET vs PIR ***

According to FET sources, the pirate heavy cruiser, PIR Carnation (73786), entered orbit over a FET Starbase somewhere in the Estonestal syste this week; apparently planning mischief. This was not to be, as he encountered elements of the FET-FRG. Four rounds of fire later said pirate had taken almost 10K damage and (maybe) limped away! The FET took no damage, and eagerly await the next varmint!

Kang pities lone Pirate vessels that decide to take on entire starbases on their own.

But Kang pities everyone. So really, how would we know?

*** Contact Requests ***

We are the Voice of the Hexamon. We ask that the FET collective contact us as soon as possible regarding FET SHIP CC PAPPYSWOE BS3XX (71899).

That is all.

Would the FET oyabun responsible for the outpost (CCI) HELPLESS FOLLY R1 (67643), please contact the office of the Falconian princeps.
Tiercel of House Raptor

This is The True One, would the FET please contact the highest authority to explain their wretched existence, because the creator of all things sure isn’t clear on this.

*** Unfortunate Fire Breaks Out ***

The headquarters of the SSS has reportedly burnt to the ground this week after celebratory napalm airbursts were set off inside the news-room during a rare lunch break.

Casualties are understood to be high, but also hilarious.

***** Special Report – Ellarian’s Blog - Dewiek Officer Fishing *****

It was early morning, or at least felt that way and Asmode - scourge of females and hunter of lesser races was relaxing and enjoying the view. This was somewhat unusually spectacular as a large force of Mercenary ships was pounding twenty or so Brotherhood warships. Somewhat unusually the Dewiek battlefleet Asmode was in was not involved and its ships darted delicately in and out extremely close to the combatants in the unrealised hope that someone would be stupid enough to shoot at them allowing them to 'partake' of the fun as well.

Unfortunately for his digestion no one present seemed to want to do any such thing though the fact both the Mercanaries and Brotherhood would have been outnumbered ten to one by the Dewiek ships might have influenced their decision.

Asmode was ambivalent about the combat. He understood the strictures concerning combat Corewards and with current relationship status no one appeared to want to be more 'hostile' than necessary thus allowing enemy allies to get involved without risk therefore both the Gimp forces and the ESP were being forced to use Mercenary to strike in what would otherwise be protected regions of space. Still at least it all looked very pretty and at least someone was fighting.

In the close distance a Brotherhood ship exploded drawing appreciative 'ooooos and aaaaaahhhs' from some assembled Dewiek at the sight. Chewing a spare rib Asmode leant over to a communicator and thumped it ungently.

"Send someone to pick up survivors from there"

Taking another bite from his rib he leant back. Though not directly involved in this combat there was no reason not to partake of his favoured game of 'fishing for officers'. The Brotherhood would probably be relieved as if the Mercenaries were Flagritz then any survivor would find themselves fighting to the death in some stadium somewhere drugged to the limit and if Hex then the survivor would probably be dinner. If it was Pirate Large then they would no doubt become unwilling sex slaves of that depraved buffoon who must have some deep seated mental aberration to have generated that particular warped world view. If Gimp then they would probably be executed to hide the nature of the attackers and Asmode did not even feel like considering what convoluted warped mind set might cause the Caliphate or CIA to use mercenaries on their own subsidiary allies though he would not be surprised either way - 'speaking with forked tongues' did not come into it with that particular brand of humanity. He was almost nostalgic for the CNF and their 'we gonna beat you up honky wolf hahahahah' brand of brainless imbecility. No it was better for all concerned if the honourable Dewiek took ownerships of that particular personage whoever it was. He was sure they would be stunningly grateful.

As a pre-cursor to the coming Race and Government Upgrade to Infrastructure a new Political Order has been added - List Governments.
As the name suggests this lists governments that your affiliation can (will be able to) establish on worlds. This includes governments open to all.

An example:

Code:

Naplian Enclaves (11) Aff:0
Race Specific: Minimum 60% Naplian

Control Needed: 1000 factors
Resistance to Change:60000 factors
Weeks to Establish: 0
System Income Mod: -10000 stellars
Militia: 1 per 5000 Naplian Civilians
Security Modifier: 5%
Can use Slaves: No Security Mod: x1
Can use Indentured: Yes Security Mod: x0.8

This government is based on using religious concepts often prevalent in native cultures to govern the population. Much of the trade is directed towards drugs (both recreational and pharmaceutical - better health, longer lives etc).
While this enclave can be established on worlds with only Basic Colonisation it is not really suitable for larger populations and starts to creak at higher stages.

A government designed for higher stages (requires the higher stage integrating)

Code:
