Caste Apart

The Flagritz Republic is (very nearly) no more. In its place, a single Hexamon and Flagritz power has arisen. The new Collective has absorbed much of the Flagritz holdings with only a handful of Clique-caste Flagritz systems choosing instead to align with the other Elder species, the Dewiek.

Flagritz and Hexamon Hybrids - A hope for the Future?

The rapid fall of the FLZ has not gone unnoticed. Human Empire forces were seen establishing numerous toeholds in the old systems during the transition period. Some of these have been dealt with swiftly by Hexamon. With shots fired, it is unclear what this means for long-term relations between the new power and the humans.

To what extent the collapse of the Republic is due to rapid social changes with the emancipation of the native workforce and how much due to the sudden opening up of the Flagritz Home Periphery is unknown. An affiliation that once epitomised a different alien way of life has met the common fate of many who resisted the homogeneity of the human perspective and its claims of universal morality. Some xeno-scientists claim that the underlying forces of the universe push all species towards a dearth of imagination and uniformity. If so, only the Dewiek and Hexamon may offer the last stand against the grey goo of human conformity.

Heim From Heim

While searching for ISR connections to re-link the distant Muspelheim system back to the rest of the Dewiek Home Periphery (DHP), Dewiek stellar scientists discovered the Vanaheim system. Distant scans discovered sentient life on a moon of one the Gas Giants. The population was estimated at over ten million.

Closer orbital scans revealed groups of semi-nomadic Dewiek living and hunting in the grasslands as well as primitive natives living primarily in the forests. The moon was named Gullveig - “Gold Lady” - and the golden furred High Priestess, Verdandi, traveled to the world personally to make contact with the inhabitants. It seemed to be her destiny.

The ancestors of these Dewiek were a group of asteroid miners and other low status itinerant workers from across various DHP core systems, including Hydrae. They came to Vanaheim several decades ago looking for a quieter life, closer to nature and with fewer obligations. There was some early conflict with the native inhabitants, but hostilities have now largely calmed with basic trade and other interaction leading to a number of natives now being classed as Naplian.

Contact has yet to be made with the much more numerous native population who have so far purposefully avoided the exploration teams, observing cautiously from a distance.

Felini System Claim Null and Void

The Felini recently tried to claim the Void system in the Cluster. The Dewiek Elder Nation (DEN) had long maintained a number of operations in the system and so chose to counter the claim in order to protect their interests as well as to better monitor the fluctuating ISR fields of Hellcadium. Over the next few days the Void system saw an escalation of the claim with Imperial troop ships spotted, almost certainly bringing reinforcements for the Felini, and the Hexamon further supporting the DEN claim.

Such was the scale and speed of developments that the EEM computer systems had the backwater system of Void registering as a Core system at one point. Thankfully EEM technicians and common sense both seem to have prevailed in the end with the claim finally settling to the DEN.
