Surrender!

Catnip-munching surrender-kittens the Felini Tyranny have reportedly capitulated to the Confederacy following the declaration of war last week without even a single shot being fired.

Unofficial sources within the Confederacy have been quoted as saying the terms of the surrender include the Felini handing over practically everything but the kitchen sink throughout the entire Cluster Periphery. No, wait, check that, everything but the plugs of their kitchen sinks, as we understand General Scott has been seen leading a victory parade of FEL kitchen sinks through a major Confederate stronghold.

This has surely been an odd episode of political manoeuvring, and at its heart surely lays the offices of the Baron LiQuan, whose schemes are surely not yet resolved. We expect there to be more developments to this story.

FLZ Patrol Destroyed

A 4-ship patrol squadron of FLZ ran into a FELini patrol in winter, no FEL ships destroyed, two destroyers ever-so slightly damaged. There were no FLZ survivors.

RCF News

One of our reporters embedded with the Real-Confederacy, have provided the following report on a recent action:

"Some RCF ships ran into a larger GTT fleet in Storm

First day the GTT lost one ship while the RCF never took any damage

Just to prove that every RCF ship is a match to 3 IMP block ships they came in heavy handed for the second day

RCF losses were not light but ships saw out the second day of combat

FLZ On The Move

A fresh offensive may soon be underway in the Crusade system as a large number of FLZ ship movements have been noticed. Primarily the FLZ appear to have abandoned their blockade of Cause, and moved towards the wormhole.

After suffering during the initial stages of the Twilight operation, could the FLZ be on the verge of winning back the initiative from the Consortium?

RCF Offensive

The RCF ground offensive against Imperial forces has continued this week as several RCF units have pushed hard against IMP targets throughout Imperial-bloc space.

Three more outposts are reported to have fallen, as the RCF move ever closer to the Capellan system:

GTT Audrey Visnu T1 (35115) has fallen to the attackers.

IMP DB-95 (40576) has fallen to the attackers.

GTT Blaggard Nelson T1 (53334) has fallen to the attackers.

It has been rumoured that the recent GTT announcement of the closure of the DaWines and Dinas Dawr markets has been in direct response to the encroaching RCF threat, and that all leave has been cancelled for GTT Security Forces throughout the corporations holdings as they fear a major RCF ground assault might be in preperation.

The Imperial-bloc continue to respond with overwhelming force to all sightings of RCF warships.

HLQ Press Release

Greeting All

With so much bad press about the Hive, HLQ has decided to set up and run, in a control envioment a hive planet and production facility on Hanger 17 in the twilight system with the full cooperation the FLZ.
Wimbleville will be renamed Vespa Crabro to show its new role.

This will hopefully find out the truth about the Hive race. I refuse to believe these are the bogey "men" portrayed in childrens nightmares.

To this end all HLQ ships run by Hive will have the prefix "H" in there name.
They will also avoid the Inner Empire and Inner Confederacy until any rogue elements are controled and there behaviour can be gauranteed. They will also be useing organic hulls, which according to our research they are more comfortable with. Human officer and troops will be stationed at the bases to ensure our will is followed till the operation is finished.

In accordance with the above aims I will be shiping in Hive eggs to populate the planet.
I would also like to find a collection of organic ships designes, if accetible these can be brought or traded.
I would also like to build up a stock of heavy organic hulls Mk II and Light organic hulls.
If anyone wishes to sell or trade please get in contact.
If anyone has any tech/scientist which could help again please contact us

Baron LiQuan

Press Release
From the offices of Blake Ravenstone
Star Date 210.15.3

We are extremely pleased to announce that His Imperial Highness the Emperor Lysander has bestowed upon Blake Ravenstone, in recognition for his dedication to pushing the borders of the Empire into new territories, the title of Grand Duke of the Imperial Frontier. An explorer and an entrepreneur, the new Grand Duke is possibly the single individual who has brought the most system claims to Imperial space.

This is an exceptional honor, as Blake Ravenstone is the first Grand Duke of the Empire in more than 50 years. The only other Grand Duke in the history of the Empire was Lord Rachmaninov, Grand Duke of the Capellan Reaches, who for a time after the Rebellion governed Tau Ceti, Pollux and Trinity.

Ulysses S Scotts Blog - Biography Part 3

Special Action/Starbase GTT Endings/CNF Visit/Fate of Ulysses' Father/21014
Records at this base and in the civilian factions are fragmentary for some months after the civil war and large chunks have been deleted by the GCS.
Suffice to say prisoner records post dating the separation of the Inner Empire and Confederacy seem only to include reference codes - generally linked to indelible tags on the prisoner and criminal records that may no longer exist.
Ulysses would have to shake of his entourage and get down with the oldsters in the civilian sectors in order to find out more.

Special Action/Starbase GTT Endings/CNF Visit/Fate of Ulysses' Father/Personal Visit to Civilians/210.15
Ulysses slips out of the base on his own reconnaissance amongst the civilians of the surrounding urban sector. He thinks he has got away with it, though security is pretty tight.
After making some contacts he meets with some old people that live in fairly squalid conditions - life has not been kind to people that have had Confederate leanings.
Suffice to say, they are fairly certain that his father was captured. There were a lot of executions and not all of them in accordance with the law - it is a long way from Sol.
Scott would have been a minor figure so chances are that if he was here and captured he would have been tortured to determine if he knew anything else about guerrillas rather than being shipped back to Sol. Then he would have been shot in the head before being dumped in any one of a number of roughly known places.
Recovery of these bodies will prove difficult and identification even harder (not that the government would support this).

Investigation/Earth/Political Situation/Ulysses Scott's Father/210.15
Terran databases dating from the time of the Rebellion fail to elicit any information regarding the fate of Anderson, the father of Ulysses Scott.
There are two accounts though that may have some bearing on his fate - one is the report of a protracted guerrilla war within Tau Ceti, the other is an account of a small fleet of badly damaged ships scouted in Wolf 359 Enquires with the Tatian government indicated that they never entered orbit and nothing further was known.
One of the ships however was known to have been owned by the Scott family.

OOC Special Feature - Seven Wonders Of The Peripheries

Inspired by the following thread on the Nexus:

www.kjcgames.co.uk/phoenix/nexus/index.php?a=posts&tid=32421&page=0

I contacted our friendly neighbourhood GM to see what his seven wonders of the game might be.

Mica: "This is a toughy for me because unlike the players I do not get to discuss the features I add to the game and as such the things I really remember tend to be anecdotal in nature.

Stargates, wormholes, large strange planetary features and peculiar aliens and legacies litter the game universe - some I can't even recall until somebody crosses their path again or follows up a lead.

The stuff that clearly sticks in my mind are events such as the Imperial orbital swimming pool construction fleet, the death of Mark Eaton, Bond at Topaz, the first ignition of a gas giant, Ivan being evicted from the remembrance service, the suicidal FET cave explorer and most recently Nastillinian adverts (plus a few X-rated scenes of first contact with natives)."

Of course needless to say these are all things I've never really heard of before. So if any readers have any further details they can share regarding Micas Seven Wonders, please do contact me so I can elaborate further.

Though it is suspected that the suicidal FET cave explorer may have been the human who made first contact with the Hive…

Piracy Compensation Scheme

The independent adjudicators of the RIP Piracy Compensation Scheme have announced their findings this week. Firstly the Baron LiQuan published the following:

Piracy Compensation Scheme

I was asked a number of months ago to conduct an investigation into a number of GTT ships taken by various pirates and to see if the RIP were involved in the matter.

After extensive research and questioning I have come to following proven conclusions.

1) The RIP did aid pirates by being middle "men". They have on repeated occasions shipped goods on behalf of Pirates.
2) The RIP did not directly supply the high tech equipment used in the better know more prosperous pirates. They basically don't the technology themselves.
3) I have come across no concrete evidence that the RIP ran pirate positions.
4) The GTT have supplied pirates with high tech equipment and ships.

Baron LiQuan

This was shortly followed by the findings of the Felini Tyrant Mrrshan:

In a strange coincidence, I can now reveal that the other adjudicator was myself.

In broad outline on the basis of using a balance of probabilities as the threshold, I concur with the Baron's findings. However, I would like to add the following.

A) The RIP leadership has continually sought to distance itself from the activity of piracy. This however was undermined in the past by an "ask no questions" policy of it's members and an indiscriminate recruitment policy - the latter of which at least has been modified in recent times.

B ) As with other affiliations, it is possible for pirates to shelter within an affiliation without the knowledge or sanction of an affiliation's leadership. However, when the leadership does become aware of evidence, it must act or become tarnished as a result. It is my considered opinion that the RIP leadership's past actions have not always had the alacrity that would be required to avoid doubt of their underlying intentions, although I find no proof whatsoever that their decisions were made with an intention to condone shelter or abet piracy.

The current leadership has done much in an effort to put the accusations behind it - this offer of compensation is but one avenue of which I am aware. While both adjudicators have found evidence that will no doubt lead to a payout under the scheme, I urge the current RIP leadership to continue these efforts, as they should be commended by all those who wish to see piracy eliminated from the Peripheries.

In Honour
Mrrshan

With both independent studies now completed, the results surely look good for the RIP, and we here at the IGN news-room heartily congratulate them on dodging a bullet.

Must be all the practice.

The GTT however are thrown back into the news spotlight as being the power behind large-scale Periphery piracy, something that they will no doubt not be thanking the press for mentioning again.

Felini Surrender Ceremony Broadcast

-- The scene fades in to a grand hall. Banners from all the Feline Prides line the walls. --

-- Mrrshan is stood in front of a raised platform. He is flanked by two felines who are jet black in pelt, each armed with a strange recurved blade that appears to be both antique and - from the dark stains - to have been used before --

'Sentients of the Peripheries, I speak to you today about our current and future relations with the Confederacy, especially with HLQ and the CNF.

It is my duty to report that a settlement has been reached, which removes the spectre of war between our peoples. May the Great Mother look upon this with her approbation. As Tyrant under Her gaze, I wholeheartedly accept this deal on behalf of all felines, for the benefits to all outweigh the price that we pay.

As will become clear, this deal cements our acceptance of the supremacy of the Confederate forces in the Cluster. We are not the Clans, and have never claimed hegemony of the Cluster, or ever had designs to do so. Rulership of Forrest, Winter and Skye will fall to the Confederacy as a direct result of this agreement.

This conflict came about from two tragic accidents within the conflict area in Twilight. As part of the agreement, all feline forces will be impounded with the DTR and will take no further part in the Consortium actions therein. I have already offered apology for this but today do so again in the most stringent way available to me within our custom and traditions

Baron LiQuan, for the errors which were made in Twilight and the loyal confederates which died through Feline errors: my Tail is yours.'

-- As one, the blades sweep behind Mrrshan. The jerk of his ears is unmistakable as a feline pain response, but otherwise no reaction is seen as a goodly portion of his tail falls in two pieces to the ground. The scene fades.... --

All Change

Press Release
From the offices of Blake Ravenstone
Star Date 210.16.5

Blake Ravenstone, Grand Duke of the Imperial Frontier, has announced today that he is leaving the Galactic Trade & Transport (GTT) and joining the Imperial Services (IMP). Business operations should not be affected by this move, and assets holding system claims for Wastelands, Masters, Demon and Caribbean will remain under his control. The Grand Duke has stated that, despite having fond memories of his time with the GTT, he is eager and delighted to face the new challenges ahead of him.

GTT Press Release:

CEO James Stryker has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Blake Ravenstone and granted permission for the newly created Grand Duke to withdraw from employment in the Galactic Trade and Transport corporation. Mr Ravenstone has been a capable administrator of numerous GTT positions throughout the Peripheries and a former member of the Board of Directors. Blake's abilities to establish system claims is well established. He is best known as a very talented explorer who ranged far and wide on behalf of the corporation.

The Grand Duke's performance of his duties for the GTT has been in the highest traditions of his predecessors: Sebastion Blodstark and Drake Takayama. The loss of Mr Ravenstone's services will be keenly felt by all in the coming days and weeks. He will be difficult to replace.

Though I am personally saddened by the departure of my friend and partner, I note with some satisfaction his move to the IMPerial Services. We of the GTT wish MR Ravenstone the best of fortunes in his new situation and look forward to working closely with him as an ally of the GTT.

Good luck Blake and may your future be as bright as you hope it to be.

RCF News

RCF once more hold off IMP block attacks, live report from journalists located inside the RCF ground forces.

Three RCF warships held off over 300 IMP block ships for three days allowing ground forces to get into place.

On the ground the news just gets better and better. On the site of a former IMP block outpost RCF forces destroyed a much larger IMP force that entered combat to take the place back. The IMP ground forces were supported by ships in orbit that rained death from the sky.

In this battle over 400 IMPs were killed for NO RCF losses:

More fighting when RCF forces outnumbered 5 to 1 held off a major IMP attack. It should be noted that the IMPs using tanks and raining missiles form orbit were pushed back. Many IMPs troops were killed in this combat.

RIP News Network

--- Standard IGN transmission replaced by static ---

--- RNN Logo gradually appears ---

We interrupt your regularly scheduled news bulletin with the following Jiggly Room shocker !

Early reports are being recieved by this office indicating that the Jiggly Room will remain closed today after a series of 'disturbances' late last night.

It would appear that there as a disagreement between two groups of Jiggly Revellers about who could drink the most Iced Teas before sundown.

This all started when a small group from the Maiming & Injury Completey Assured* trying to out drink the Diabolical and Regular Assassins Klub**.

The drinking was intense and fuelled by the fact that the Iced Tea was both high quality and inexpensive (in fact... it was Two-for-One).

Witnesses to the scene (after they had put some clothes on) were able to tell us that arguements slowly degraded into childish subjects such as ..

"Who was here first" and "Who has the most medals"

None of this made a lot of sense ... but things rarely do at the Jiggly Room.

Violence broke out shortly after one side claimed "It's my birthday... you gotta let me win".

The violence was quick, sharp and bloody - and was only broken up when RIP security forces*** seperated the two mercenary gangs.

Once the offending parties had been removed the cleanup operation begun.

Quick Snack and the Jiggly Room should return to normal service on Monday

More worringly... one of the departing groups was overheard to say "I'm coming back... this time with my Gammatron Quads".

One slight benefit from this fight... Al Bundy has not been seen since the first punch was thrown... this fact should double the takings for a week at least !

More news will be brought as it becomes available.

FET In Trouble?

A recent military action by FET forces against a RIP mining outpost in the Curly system has seen the FET fall foul of the Falconian Republic development zone laws. A ceasefire was requested, though by that point no doubt the damage had been done. It is unknown at time of press if the FET were required to pay compensation.

CNF Press Release

Greetings,

As has been stated by the Felini Tyrant the following systems are now undergoing a transition to the Confederacy: Forest, Winter and Skye.

Could all parties with interests in these systems please contact IMXR-COM as soon as possible.

For Commonwealth partners, this is merely a courtesy and not a requirement. For all other parties, applications to extend your ARPs are more than likely to be met favourably at this time.

Once claims are settled and the sovereign transfers complete, we will be offering opportunities to those interested in extending ARPs to these systems for purposes of exploration and colonisation. Please contact my office to discuss this further.

Rumours

Overheard at Jax:

'It is my intention to name Hakeswill House of Horrors (Formerly Frontier Trade) as the new Imperial prison colony. Obadiah Hakeswill our resident governor is to be appointed warden, and has promised escaped prisoners will be eaten on sight! Devil's Island will look like a picnic compared to life on the "farm". Fences, we don't need no stinkin' fences, run away and see how the locals cook you. It is believed governor Hakeswill will open every introduction to incoming prisoners with these famous words, "what we have here is ....failure to communicate....".'

Overheard in Halo:

'Pirates? Infesting the Halo periphery? That as may be, but you heard of any successful pirate attacks yet? No, didn't think so. Buncha useless louts them Halo pirates, not proper pirates at all. I hear the ghost of Black Dog has been sighted, him that hardly won a single fight before getting' creamed by the SMS down in the outer Capellan.'

Overheard in Yank:

'What? These? Oh no, you are mistaken, these aren't biological weapons, these are, uh… pest control supplies.'

Overheard In The Confederacy:

The Confederate Rhapsody.

Is this a real life?
No it's just some xeno-filth
Caught in a tractor
No escape from photon beams
Open the bays
Look to the starboard... and see
I'm just a xenophobe (Xenophobe)
I need no empathy
Because you're easy kill, easy dead
Little fang, little claw
Any way the ship blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me

Papa, just killed a cat
Put the torps against its hull
Gave the orders, now it's dead
Papa, war has just begun
But now I've gone and blown them all away
Papa, ooh
Did I mean to make it purr?
If I've not killed again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on.. as if nothing alien matters

Too late, my mags are full
Send bombers down the line
Fighters blasting all the time
Goodbye, filthy aliens
You've got to die
Gotta leave all you had behind and face the truth
Papa, oooooooh (Anyway the ship blows)
I don't want to lie
Sometimes wish they'd never been born at all!

[Guitar Solo]

I see a little silhouetto of a cat
Scaredy cat, Scaredy cat, will you just kill Flagritz?
Thunder fleet shoots lightning, very, very frightening: flee
(Verus Unus) Verus Unus (Verus Unus) Verus Unus, Verus Unus Iuguolo!
Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor bigot, nobody loves me
He's just a poor bigot from a bigoted family
Spare him his life from this Hive monstrosity

Easy shot, easy kill, will I let you live?
By Lysander! No, I will not let you live!
Let it flee?
By Lysander! We will not let it flee!
Let it flee?
By Lysander! We will not let it flee!
Let it flee? (Will not let it flee)
Let it flee? (Will not let it flee) (Never, never, never, never)
Let me kill, o, o, o, o
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
(Oh papa dios, papa dios) Papa Dios, let me kill
The Emperor has the galaxy put aside for man, for man, for man!

[Rock Out]

So you think you can curse me and flick your tail in my eye?
So you think you can claw me and wish me to die?
Oh, Felini, can't do this to me, Felini
Just gotta get out, just gotta get out ma'gun right here

[Guitar Solo]
(Oooh yeah, Oooh yeah)

Nothing alien matters
Any fool can see
Nothing alien matters
Nothing alien matters to me

Any way the ship blows...

Twilight

Negotiations continue in Twilight regarding the surrender of Consortium forces trapped and overwhelmed by the combined might of the FLZ and HLQ. However, tensions continue as the FLZ and HLQ launch a number of strikes against stranded FEL and SMS vessels, continuing to whittle down their number, including one major assault which saw Obsidian Pride Swarm warships joining in with the Felini-hunt.

And even as the SMS attempted to withdraw, further damage was done as the SMS lost 3 heavy cruiser. The entire region can be considered a free fire zone, and perhaps not the safest place in the Peripheries for surrender negotiations.

Official! Humans like shiny titles!

In a simple ceremony held earlier in the week, FET director Peregrine Lanner was bestowed the peerage and title 'Baron of Dryfus in Fortoon'.

In his acceptance speech, Lanner stated that he considered the honour to be for the FET Corporation as a whole and was in recognition of FET's many years of loyal service to the IMP cause.

Later, in a potentially embarassing 'off-camera' moment, Lanner seemed to contradict himself when he was heard to say 'I can't wait to see that kastorian yardee's reaction when he hears about MY award'. he was believed to be referring to the FET security Director kanji, who's ethnic origins, recreational indulgences and shady dealings are a matter of record.

One thing is certain, the award was not greeted with complete universal acclaim. On hearing the news, one high ranking IMP dignatory replied "does he even know where Dryfus is?"

News From The RCF

After the first IMP force was wiped out in Audrey, they are not looking to repeat that mistake

A major force of 2500 men and 800 tanks entered combat to retake the Outpost from RCF hands. With the fighting into its 3rd day it should not be long until the IMP flag is once more flying over this base.

As Audrey system is won back so Pegasus system goes up in flames with combat breaking out at two FET outposts and an SMS outpost coming under artillery attack. Defenders at the FET outpost held off the RCF attackers with both sides taking losses.

Pirates In Kasmer

A pirate transport vessel transporting a regiment of ground troops has been destroyed by the GTT in the Kasmer system.

It is not known where the pirate ground force might have been destined for, but they were surely up to no good.

In related news a pirate vessel that had recently been captured was intercepted and destroyed in the same system by the Imperial navy.

Pirates In Adamski

One pirate vessel, the Brigantine, has achieved the impressive feat of boarding and capturing not one but two GTT freighters in the space of one day.

What is truly remarkable about this event is that there has been no boasting by the pirate responsible.

Pirates In Blowton

The pirate vessel Spectre has successfully boarded the HLQ ship Adams dream in quadrant gamma 10.

All starcaptains are reminded that loitering in ring 10 is a sure fire way to fall victim to a pirate attack.

Special Report

INTO THE VOID, AND BACK
by Camille Nebraska, IMP Starcaptain

When the exploration ship RVNX Shackleton (77208) docked for repairs at starbase Port Scheherazade (3173), a cheering crowd was waiting for the captain and his crew. A few weeks earlier she had been declared lost with all hands, and now that her true story was revealed many people wanted to see the ship that disappeared into the void. I met today with starcaptain Karl Harper, aka Little Big Foot, to hear his story.

"It all started as a routine exploration mission. We were sent to the Forlorn Hope System to find a suitable location for a starbase. Then we received the news that the Dewiek had revoked our authorization to be there and wanted us to surrender the ship. We thought the issue would eventually be resolved amicably, but no amount of diplomatic talks made the Dewiek change their minds. Of course we wouldn't surrender the ship, but without an exit visa we couldn't leave. We were trapped. So I ordered the crew to perform a misjump, and the ship disappeared into the void."

The RVNX Shackleton failed to reply to any attempts of communication for five weeks, and was considered lost.

"It was strange. Really strange. Engines were working but the ship wasn't moving. Sensors were working but showing no results. The ship seemed to be nowhere, if that even makes sense. Something needed to be done, and the answer seemed obvious to me. We had to misjump again. One misjump to get into the void, one misjump to get out. And it worked. I don't know how, but we ended up in the outer rings of the Sargasso System. Of course, that kicked off another round of diplomatic negotiations to get us out of there, but the RIP folks proved to be a bit more sensible than the DEN folks and now we are back home. The ship took a good beating from those misjumps but we all survived."

I asked starcaptain Harper if he holds any resentment towards the DEN for putting him and his crew in the situation that started it all, and he smiled. "The funny thing is that we were flying a GTT flag when we were kicked out of Dewiek space, and now that Grand Duke Ravenstone has joined the IMP we are allied with the DEN. So we may be going into Dewiek space again soon. But no more misjumps, I hope..."

Firestorm In Yank

There has been a major incident in Yank this week when a GTT strike fleet entered orbit of Mobile Bay and commenced orbital bombardment of the RCF Starbase Restoration. The GTT base Centerpoint City joined in with the battle, and unleashed a firestorm of truly epic proportions upon the RCF base, which proceeded to throw itself into the air and scatter itself across the landscape in a gigantic explosion which geologists report has knocked the axis of rotation of the entire planet out of alignment by 2 whole inches.

Apart from smoking craters and scattered bodies, there is very little left of the somewhat ironically named Restoration.

The GTT face a PR nightmare over this attack, following similar incidents where they have violated the no-fire Yank peace accords. However, the Kastorian Military Junta have been oddly passive, leading many to suspect that the peace of Yank is no longer actively being enforced, and that it is only a matter of time until general warfare breaks out throughout the Yank system. However, the GTT have stated that the incident was an unfortunate accident, as it involved a squadron of warships returning from the Halo Periphery where they had been running hunt and kill operations against RCF forces.

IGN reporters have learnt that already a large amount of military equipment is being shipped into the system, as multiple affiliations prepare for what is now seen as being inevitable.

We have a special report from the surface of the planet:

Drafted rescue crews with media teams in tow scour the destruction. The number and depth of the craters is phenomenal.

Through most of the site they find only rubble - so much rubble it is unbelievable.
Bodies prove quite rare - bloody and fire seared fragments are generally all that is found.

Only in the merchandising zone - though this can only be determined from grid references - they find their first survivors.

These are Kastorian civilians that were making use of the merchandising complexes when the surprise attack hit them. They speak of horrific fires, people next to them being ripped apart by shrapnel while their screams were drowned out by the noise.
Of the survivors most have lost limbs - crushed by falling masonry or burn to cinders.
It proves grim work - most of which is carried out in silence.

In total 65 Kastorian civilians that are dragged out manage to survive though all will bear the scars for a lifetime - both emotional and physical.

GTT Refute RCF Claims

Press Release By GTT Press Corp:

Despite all of the glowing reports in the paper about how successful the RCF is, the reporters conveniently ignore many things. For example, all three of the outposts the RCF captured have been retaken. At the Visnu outpost, 85 civilians had been hanged for the simple reason that they worked for the GTT. I suppose the paper did not print this since it would not fit into the Robin Hood-esque model they want to show.

At a second outpost on Nelson, the RCF retreated when they saw a Boy Scout troop armed with slingshots. It has been reported that several of the RCF troops were seen fleeing holding their butts after being stung by a rock.

On the space front, the paper has made much of the "RCF holding off 300 IMP ships". The facts are that four 100HH RCF ships engaged some smaller GTT ships, destroying one 50NH ship. But only one of the four ships managed to get away with the rest being vaporized. Fine, so the GTT fleet had 27 ships (a far cry from 300), but so what? The result was still three 100HH RCF ships lost for a single 50NH GTT ship lost. If this is a win, I hope the RCF wins some more battles in this same fashion.

In the Halo periphery, the RCF has lost several ships even though they were aided by 20 pirate ships. They continue to suffer the loss of ships here as the IMP block presses forward.

And to end the good news for the RCF this week, some GTT ships returning from Halo forgot to clear the RCF from their enemy lists and appeared over Mobile Bay. This activated a battle with the RCF base there and brought in GTT Centrepoint City. The end was over 3,000,000 damage to the RCF base. The KAS did retaliate against Centrepoint but in a surprisingly low key manner doing very little damage to the base. Perhaps the KAS are getting tired of the RCF using the Yank system to base their attacks from.

SSS Spellchecker Goes Into Meltdown

Our newsroom has received a series of reports from a shadowy pirate figure who wishes to remain anonymous. The pirate in question appears to have been having a busy time recently, as his reflections on operations indicate, along with a great deal of success.

We cannot say for sure if this pirate has links to the infamous Pirate Large, but there do seem to be certain similarities…

Pirates Score Major Victory

A single pirate vessel is today claiming a huge victory over the Kastorian military Junta in orbit of Spritzer in Yank.

We have received the following footage of the battle, where a lone Pirate scout successfully annihilated the following 125 heavy hulled capital ships:

It seems that far from being feared and respected, the Kastorian Military Junta are in fact a bunch of harmless old ladies.

We salute you, harmless old ladies.

FLZ Attack

Flagritz naval forces have launched an assault against the FEL Starbase Foothold. A large number of 150 and 200 heavy hulled capital ships have opened bombardment against what appears to be a largely defenceless installation. Damage remains light, as Foothold shelters under Starbase shields. Satellite installations and outposts have however also been targeted, and have taken heavy damage, along with a single FEL freighter that was caught in the combat zone.

The operation appears to have been a hit and run, for as quickly as the FLZ appeared, they have promptly vanished again.

CNN BREAKING NEWS *** CNN BREAKING NEWS *** CNN BREAKING NEWS

Incoming reports from the Yank system indicate General Ulysses F. Scott's personal courier, the Odyssey, was boarded by the PIR vessel Ghost of Master K (97329) with a compliment of 350 vicious Hive Marines. The small compliment of Confederate marines and crew on-board the Odyssey were all killed in the ensuing battle with only the loss of 12 of the filthy Hive, 3 of them reportedly at the hand of the General himself.

A personal subspace communicator attached to the General showed he was taken by force on board the PIR / Hive vessel, which immediately jumped into the Skord system before the device was forcefully removed. The last communication heard from the General was: "Get your filthy pincers off me! Do you have any idea who you are dealing with? I will piss on your queen and watch all her eggs burn, I shit you not! True One give me strength!"

It is unclear whether the General survived the physical assault and unarmed struggle that followed.

Update:

An official statement by Major Geraldine Ford of IMXR-COM indicated that the Confederate Forces are in a state of shock and anger. She said they will leave "no stone unturned, no bug alive" until General Scott is returned safely. She also informed the press that Baron Jericho, a.k.a. Jeremiah Scott, the General's uncle, has been notified of developments. He is reportedly deeply upset and calling for a systemic nuclear cleansing of all hive populations.

Asked whether this would have any further impact on the CNF, Major Ford added: "All business with the office of the Advocate General will now be handled directly by the Supreme Commander. The CNF is at its usual readiness to enforce its sovereignty and punish its enemies with extreme prejudice."

RIP

The RIP Piracy compensation scheme is entering its final stages as payments have begun to be made to parties who suffered losses that have been traced to the RIPs door.

With the RIP making such efforts to clear their name, it will be interesting to see if this might mitigate IMP-Bloc aggression towards them. Either way, the RIP are to be congratulated for their efforts.

Whether or not they will be congratulated, remains to be seen.

Piracy

More bad news for the Kastorian Military Junta, as pirates continue to operate under their noses with no apparent threat of retaliation, prompting several to start speculating if the KAS are secretly in league with the Pirates.

Aladdin System Announcement

I am pleased to announce that the Aladdin system is once again under IMPerial law.

All non-IMP bloc asset-owners are requested to contact me via PM , to register the assets they currently hold within the Aladdin system. This will need to be done by week 210.25.5. Any non-registered assets after that date may be subject to removal.

Anyone that wishes to set up new assets in Aladdin and who are not members of FET/GTT/IMP or SMS , must first obtain permission from the IMP.

Thank you for your time.

Pirate Destroyed

GTT Press Release.

The GTT is claiming credit for destroying PIR Greater Fortune (91815) in Wastelands on fridays (19.5) turn.

Garbled information reached GTT HQ regarding an attempted boarding of a GTT warship CCZ Lichtenstein (45557) which successfully fought off the action. The GTT immediately dispatched an investigation team and discovered that not only had the Lichtenstein successfully fought off the boarding action, but fired full missiles loads at the Greater Fortune all four rounds, scoring many hits.

Additionally, the investigators discovered that several other GTT warships "defended" the Lichtenstein by also firing all four rounds and also scoring many damaging hits.

After careful study of all data (including number of hits and missile types), the Military analyists claim the PIR ship Greater Fortune was destroyed as no ship could have endured such a firestorm and survived. It is the opinion of the experts that the Greater Fortune was atomised leaving no trace of it for confirmational purposes.

If the Pirate owner of this ship wishes to dispute the GTT's claim, they are more than welcome to forward a ship's log to GTT HQ. We will give due consideration to the evidence they provide.

Attacks

The RCF have launched a number of mysterious attacks against IMP-Bloc positions that seem not to have involved any combatants.

Reports are confused and contradictory. And nobody is quite sure what the RCF might be up to, though rumours suggest they might be deploying some sort of new tactic or weapon system.

Pirate

Pirates in Kastor have successfully boarded a FCN 150xlh freighter, a reward has been offered for any information that might result in its return.

General Scott - The early years

It is little known and seldom publicized, that before a military career, General Scott considered a theological pursuit. The first few weeks in seminary school went by rather uneventfully....until brother scott was given a task, to prepare a sermon to the masses, professing the True One's feelings towards his followers. The transcript was found recently in a secure room at a brotherhood library:

Many of you have been told since you were small that the True One loves you.
This is NOT true.
The True One loves RICH people. That is why he gives them so much money.
The True One loves STRONG people. That is why he gives them enough strength to beat everyone up.
The True One HATES poor people which is why they don't have any money.
The True One HATES weak people, which is why they are always getting beat up by strong people.
Most of all, the True One HATES the sick and crippled. If you are sick or crippled and you are not dead, you are defying the True One's will and should definitely consider suicide.
If you are poor or weak or sick or crippled, then there is not much hope.
The best, the Brotherhood can do is put in a good word with the True One.
However, it is going to cost you. The True One's mercy does not come cheap.
You must give the True One all of your Stellars. No tradegoods, no paper money, just Stellars.
Leave it with the Brotherhood on the way out and you will have a Good Word put in with the True One on your behalf.
No Promises, No Gaurentees. Just a Good Word.
Also, The True One will know if you are holding out on him so make sure it is ALL of your stellars.
And if you try and get by with half of your stellars, you will break out in green warts and DIE!
You can go back to your worthless lives now.

For some reason, this sermon hearlded the end of General Scott's theological career.

(Totally stolen from Cerebus, the Aardvark. )

Deadeye John

This is a story. Some of it is true, or maybe it is all not true. The time was long ago, and the parties that live it are no longer living.

In the early years, an IND group lead by a William Bellamy and another IND group lead by Elric Moore join forces to attack the IMP. After a long and bloody battle 8 IMP ships are destroyed and an IMP colony was heavily damage. Although the IND lose no ships in the initial operation over the next several weeks a combined force of IMP/FET/GTT ships hunted down and destroyed most of the IND ships. One of the destroyed ships was hope to have been carrying William Bellamy however his body was not recovered. It was later learned that he was not onboard.

It is now believed, that William Bellamy changed his last name to John and was lost in history until now. When a man name Deadeye John, shows up with no past, just stories of a Relative of long ago and signs of power within the GTT. He has replaced Woodes Rogers as the Security Director of the GTT. It would seem this is a man to be watched as he was not voted in, but was appointed by the CEO.

The Arrival of deadeye John has already put a end to one ship, PIRATE Eyes of Teller (38262) in Teller (147) 3 Of Spades (940) [O] [2170] When the Pirate ship entered orbit it was a one round kill. It would seem the man known as Deadeye John plans to make someone's life a little harder.

*** Wimbles Crisis Solved ***

The Wimble Crisis of 217 has come to an end with the human Baron making way to the wimble Grandfather Paden Mastaak. Celebrations were held in Wimbledon upon the news with crack teams of Wimble security staff guarding all the pies.

It’s unclear how long the Wimbles will enjoy this new era of peace and self-determination.

Vocal Wimble Dinasha, one of Paden’s early backers, has chosen this precarious moment to bait Dewiek, Flagritz and humans who were initially disposed to be friendly to the new administration. Whilst the Wimbles' history with the former-slave-loving Flagritz could be understood, their animosity towards the Dewiek and humans was more mysterious. One insider alluded to a rise in the number of cases of foot-and-mouth across the herd as being a likely cause.

*** Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door ***

The stargates are closed! Reports from multiple sources indicate at least three of the stargates, all within Dewiek controlled systems, have been closed.

Two different sources have indicated that the TCA have been spotted recently in a number of systems and may be behind this turn of events. A scan sent to the SSS indicated eight TCA ships were recently spotted first in the Faery system and later near the Kasmer stargate.

Another source, suspiciously put the blame on the ARC, suggesting the ARC and DEN were working together because they “need to trap [the TCA] and try and finish them off after the DEN bodged their operation to protect the ARC while they incinerated the MEK homeworld, which ended up with several ARC ships being destroyed and the job only being half done."

However, with no public statement from the Dewiek themselves, its hard to know whether these rumours are reliable.

Lord Igor of the Dominion and Erasmus Andersen of the Garcia Family both offered public apologies at the delay in meeting their trade commitments because of the recent closures. The not-so-subtle subtext being that someone will pay with blood for this interference in their business. Or at least with a stealthy price rise.

*** Empire Strikes: Solo ***

A massive fleet of some 1600 warships, including large numbers of super-heavy capital 300 and 400 hullers, attacked the DEN in the Solo system, catching them with their metaphorical pants down. The DEN gate platform and some two hundred DEN freighters were subject to antimatter missiles amongst other high tech ordinance.

Jack the lad, Viceroy of the Empire, claimed a victory for freedom and the Imperial (right of) way leaving the sullen Dewiek unusually unresponsive.

With DOM platforms firing on CIA ships, will the IMP now demand the DOM add them to the Do Not Fire lists as well? And what exactly is the nature of the DOM and DEN alliance in light of the sustained attack from the Empire? And will the DEN’s alien friends stand idly by as the Empire fleet camps in the vital gate system of Solo? How will the DEN retaliate for this action or are they ready to roll over and have their bellies rubbed?

All this remains unknown. All that is certain is the “feel good” factor across the DTR has increased, with citizens reassured that for some time yet, they may continue in their slumber with the easy assurance that their number is not coming up anytime soon.

*** Falconians Saved ***

The Imperials have cunningly saved the Falconian Republic from being consumed by the Dewiek Elder Nation and at no small cost to the DEN either. Whilst the new pro tem Consul crowed about the “victory”, all former FCN systems besides Acropolis have been taken over by the two warring Empires - Human and Flagritz.

Was it all worth it? For the IMP / GTT it clearly was, for the movement of a few hundred thousand troops is surely nothing to the cost they endured trying to and failing to knock the DEN out of Solo after the fact. The FCN now plucked off most of their navy and wider assets are a tiny nothing of their former self. The DEN may have resorted to some dirty namecalling but can the costs endured to save an enfeebled FCN have really been worth it? Time will tell.

Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
